Our Story

Chantek’s story began in Bandar Marang, Terengganu, a small fishing village where sisters Liancy and Annie grew up.

Their late mother, fondly known among the villagers as Mek Boh Ching, raised five children with strength and perseverance. In the late 1980s, she ran a small grocery shop during the day and collected empty boxes at night to resell for extra income.

Around 1990, life began to change when she started selling batik fabrics and sewing them into everyday clothing such as pants, singlets, and skirts for tourists visiting Cowboy Town in Bandar Marang and Pulau Kapas.

For the family, batik has always held many precious memories.
